Niko Kovac has managed the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich have announced they are parting ways with Niko Kovac. The Bundesliga Champions lost 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in Kovac’s last game as Bayern manager. Bayern, who are now fourth in the table, now trail leaders Borussia Monchengladbach by 4 points.

The 48-year-old Croatian was introduced as the manager of Bayern after the departure of Jupp Heynckes in 2018. In his debut season, Kovac won the league and cup double. However, Bayern have struggled this season under Kovac.

Bayern Munchen won 45 games out 65 under Niko Kovac but the sack was in the cards after the 5-1 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt. The loss is Bayern’s heaviest defeat in the last 10 years.

After the loss against Frankfurt, Kovac wasn’t confident Bayern would keep him in-charge.

Assistant Manager Hansi Flick will be taking charge as interim manager for the next two games against Olympiacos and Borussia Dortmund.
