ANFIELD ATROCITY: Liverpool fans throw flare at the away section injuring a 9 year old, allege Chelsea fans
In Sunday’s game that kicked off late where Chelsea were defeated by Liverpool 2-0 at Atfield, a young Chelsea fan was left injured by a flare thrown at the away section and the nine year old boy needed medical attention. Chelsea fans highlighted this issue on social media which could have otherwise gone unnoticed. Unfortunately, Liverpool FC have not issued a statement regarding this incident.
Many travelling Chelsea fans who attended the match have alleged on social media that there were homophobic chants aimed at them by the home crowd and then a flare was thrown into the away section from the upper section of the Anfield Road Stand after Sadio Mane had scored the opening goal. Most of them have expressed their frustration at the main stream media’s lack of coverage on this incident.
Here are a few posts from Chelsea fans on Twitter:
This action of the Liverpool supporters is believed to be in response to the video circulating on social media where a group of Chelsea fans were found singing a racist chant against Liverpool attacker Mo Salah. While Chelsea FC rightfully condemned the execrable racism and banned three fans from their Slavia game, Liverpool FC have even failed to admit or investigate the claims of the travelling Chelsea fans.
A section of Liverpool fans are not new to being violent. Most recently, a group of them pelted objects at the bus carrying the players and coaching staff of Manchester City to the Anfield stadium for the Champions League quarter final game in the 2017/18 season. Unless the Merseyside club takes strict action on the supporters who take part in these events, they will not be able to stop these atrocities committed by a violent section of their fans.
The Merseyside police have confirmed they are investigating the incident after it got reported to them by the Chelsea supporters.
