Bernardo Silva signs contract extention at Man City
Manchester City signed Bernardo Silva from Ligue 1 side Monaco for
£43.5 million in the summer of 2017. In the current market conditions, that fee sounds like a huge bargain for the Portuguese midfielder who is one of the first names on Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.
His impressive performances and work-rate is making him a fan-favourite at the Etihad. The 24 year old has now committed his future to the English champions by penning a contract extension that will see the midfielder stay at City till 2015.
Bernardo Silva said “It’s an honour to extend my deal with Manchester City. This Club offers everything a player needs to fulfill their ambitions and there’s nowhere else I want to be”.
“As soon as I heard City wanted me to stay longer, my mind was made up. I love the Club, the manager, the players and the fans”.
“The style of football we play here excites me, and I am determined to win more trophies. City gives me the best chance of doing that.”
Man City are shrewdly and quickly tying their bright stars to long term contracts to fend off interest from any potential suitor. Bernardo Silva joins Laporte, Sterling, Foden and Ederson in penning a contract extension with the English champions this season.
Man City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said “Bernardo is an exceptional talent, so offering him a new deal and ensuring he spends the best years of his career with us was a very easy decision”.
