Manchester City join race for Luka Jovic
Manchester City are considering a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic. The youngster is the current leading goal scorer of Bundesliga ahead of the likes of Robert Lewandowski. Chelsea and Barcelona were earlier reported to be interested in signing the Benfica man who is currently on loan at Frankfurt.
Jovic’s loan deal includes a clause, which Frankfurt can use to sign the striker for just € 6 million. If Frankfurt exercise their option and buy Jovic, they will make huge profit by selling him for a fee expected to be in the region of € 40 to 50 million, which is easily affordable for Manchester City.
With Manchester City record goal scorer Sergio Aguero entering his thirties and the injured Gabriel Jesus failing to hit top form this season, the club are monitoring Jovic’s situation. A move for Jovic is not the club’s immediate priority as they lack squad depth in the Defensive Midfield region with their stellar midfielder Fernandinho about to turn 34 years old in May.
The club executives also have concerns over the fitness of left back Benjamin Mendy who has made only 15 appearances for City after his move from Monaco in 2017.
