Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is appointed as Man United’s full-time Manager
After a disastrous start to the season under Jose Mourinho, Man United turned to their ex-striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and appointed him as care-taker manager to revive the team. Man United hit purple patch under Ole and currently sit in 5th spot in the EPL only 2 points behind Arsenal.
The best result for United so far under Ole is their victory over PSG in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie with a injury-hit squad after having lost the first match at home. Man United progressed with a late-penalty goal from Marcus Rashford. Ever since the result in Paris, fans have been calling for the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the full-time manager.
Man United have now confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as the club’s full-time manager on a three-year contract. Since being appointed as care-taker manager in December, he has lead United to 14 wins and 2 draws in 19 games.
Ed Woodward, Executive Vice-Chairman of Man United said:
“Since coming in as caretaker manager in December, the results Ole has delivered speak for themselves.
More than just performances and results, Ole brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and as a coach, coupled with a desire to give young players their chance and a deep understanding of the culture of the club. This all means that he is the right person to take Manchester United forward.I want to thank Ole and the coaching team for everything they have done so far and congratulate him on this richly deserved appointment. The fans and everyone at the club are behind him as he looks to take us where we need to be and build the next stage of our history.”
