Son plays better without Kane, claims former England Manager
After Harry Kane limped out of the UEFA Champions League quarter final first leg match at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Son Heung-min scored the winner against Manchester City without the on-field presence of the England captain. Manager Pochettino is worried that Kane could miss the rest of his season with the ankle injury.
Former England Manager Sam Allardyce told TalkSport that Son plays better when Kane is not there.
“It [Kane’s injury] is a blow for them, but they coped last time. They [Tottenham Hotspur] didn’t lose a game last time Kane was out.
It’s a big loss for them but they can take some comfort from the last time [Spurs didn’t lose when] Harry was out for five or six games.
Sam Allardyce told TalkSport
That man Son seems to come up and play even better when Harry’s not there. His goal yesterday was exceptionally good “
While Harry Kane has been Tottenham’s main man for the past few seasons, Mauricio Pochettino’s team did not miss the striking prowess of Kane and won four straight games without the English skipper. After Kane returned, Spurs slumped to a five match losing-run. It remains to be seen if Tottenham can cope up without their star man for a second time.
Tottenham face Manchester City twice at the Etihad after their next match against Huddersfield Town at home. The two fixtures against City would test the squad depth of Tottenham as the fixtures are coming thick and fast in their quest for Champions League football again next season.
