Stones’ knock isn’t serious; De Bruyne out for a while – Manchester City Injury Update
John Stones - Manchester City centre-back
Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 1-0 at Dean Court. The result saw the reigning champions take a single point lead over Liverpool who were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton the next day. City’s victory was marred by injuries to star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and defender John Stones. Riyad Mahrez who replaced De Bruyne scored the winner against the cherries.
Stones got replaced two minutes after the half time break by captain Vincent Kompany after picking up a knock. Pep clarified to BBC that the defender does not have a big problem but De Bruyne will experience another spell at the sidelines with a hamstring.
Pep told BBC “We demand a lot of the players without giving them the time to rest physiologically, that is why it is incredible. No matter what happens this season they deserve my admiration”.
“Vincent Kompany wasn’t 100% (and) John Stones does not have a big problem, it was a precaution, Kevin (De Bruyne) will be out for a while with a muscular problem, hamstring.”
