Wolves to compete with Leeds United & Norwich for Yoann Barbet
Brentford’s Yoann Barbet is ready to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer to play for a Premier League side. Championship leaders Norwich City and third placed Leeds United have the chance of earning a promotion to the Premier League. Both teams are interested in securing the signature of the 25 year old who can play as a centre-back or left-back.
Leeds United do not have depth in the left side of defence and Yoann would be a perfect signing for the Yorkshire. However, Wolves’ interest has raised a few eyebrows after they are destined to finish in the top half of the Premier League.
Wolves manager Nuno prefers a three man defence and the widespread belief is that the versatile defender is being targeted to strengthen their squad depth and would most likely be employed as a left-sided centre back. Wolves have the possibility of Europa league qualification if they finish seventh and Man City win the FA Cup.
Yoann Barnett’s contract at Griffin Park expires in July and the French daily L’Équipe reports that Championship sides Leeds United and Norwich City are the current front-runners for the signature of the French defender. The situation could change in favour of Wolves if Nuno makes a phone call.
