Tottenham Hotspur’s new £1 billion stadium is startling
After spending close to two seasons at Wembley stadium, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to return to the site of White Hart Lane which now holds an astonishing £1 billion state-of-the-art stadium, which they will be calling their new home. With an official capacity of 62,062 the new stadium is larger than Arsenal’s Emirates stadium.
The new stadium won’t be officially called ‘White Hart Lane’ but instead it will be only called Tottenham Hotspur stadium until the club finds a naming rights partner. However, most fans have already started calling it ‘New White Hart Lane’ on social media.
The first official event held at the stadium was the clash between Tottenham’s U-18 side against Southampton’s U-18 side, which ended 3-1 in favour of the hosts. Up next, the stadium will host a legend’s game against Inter to achieve a formal safety certificate before Tottenham Hotspur host their first league fixture in their new home against Crystal Palace on April 3rd.
The new stadium is ready to take supporter experience to a whole new level and put most of the football stadiums in the world to shame. Tottenham Hotspur stadium’s Market Place will host post-match entertainment such as live music, Interactions with legends to increase supporter engagement with the club. The site also comprises of eateries and breweries for the supporters to get together after the football matches and events.
The new stadium will serve as a new iconic sporting landmark of London for just it’s sheer grandiosity. It’s easy for one to forget that the new stadium is built exactly over the old White Hart Line with the intention of connecting the club’s new era with their glorious past. The 4.5 metres tall Golden Cockerel sitting gigantically at the edge of the roof in the south stand is a reminder of the ambitious project Daniel Levy has accomplished.
Spurs’ official website confirmed that the club is dedicated to minimising the environmental impacts of all their activities. The stadium will have recycle bins throughout the stadium and the club will remain committed to their Recycling and Single-Use Plastics policy. The stadium is also the world’s first cashless stadium and will accept only digital payments. Manager Pochettino hopes for magical nights at the stadium. He said “It’s our new house and when we start to feel that it’s our home it’s going to be magic. I was talking to Daniel before, it’s one of the best in the world. When we start to feel it’s our home, it’s going to be unbelievable. I really feel the future of the club is going to be fantastic.”
