Tottenham Hotspur monitoring Ryan Sessegnon
Fulham are struggling in the Premier League at 19th spot with just 17 points from 31 games. Having lost all of their last five Premier League games, their next challenge will be against the defending champions Manchester City. If Fulham’s form guide is any indication, the club are bound to drop into the Championship. The result of a relegation could warrant a number of high-quality players including Aleksander Mitrovic and Ryan Sessegnon wanting to leave the club.
Unlike Mirtrovic whose contract doesn’t expire for the next 4 years, Ryan Sessegnon has only one year left at the club. Manchester United and Tottenham were linked with a move for the promising 18 year old but baulked at Fulham’s asking price of £50 million.
The Sun reports that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident of landing the versatile English youngster for just £25 million if Fulham get relegated. The 18 year old who can play both as a left-back and left-winger has played 28 times for Fulham this season grabbing 2 goals and 5 assists. Spurs may consider loaning him back to Fulham for one season to convince Fulham owner Shahid Khan in accepting the cut-price transfer fee.
Despite Levy being adamant that the expenditure related to the new stadium will not affect their transfer kitty, Tottenham are widely expected to spend significantly lower than the other title contenders and a move for Ryan fits within their budget. Tottenham face Crystal Palace in their new ground on April third. The ground will be called ‘Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’ until a naming rights partner is found, confirmed club officials.
