Tottenham to fight Everton for Barcelona loanee Andre Gomes
Andre Gomes has returned to the form that made Barcelona pay €55 million to Valencia for the Portuguese midfielder. After disappointing in Barca colours, Everton provided a chance to the 25 year old to revive his career in the Barclays Premier League by paying a €2.5 million loan-fee to the Catalan club.
Gomes has earned the trust of Everton manager Marco Silva and the Barcelona loanee is a regular starter for the Merseyside blues. The midfielder has played 26 games for Everton this season in the Premier League and has settled in seamlessly. Even though Everton hope to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, they don’t have an option to buy in the loan deal. That has caught the attention of Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur who are now in a position to spend big again after moving to their startling new stadium.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Totteham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy has approved a €35 million move for Andre Gomes who is widely expected to leave Barcelona on a permanent basis this summer but the club where he is on loan currently – Everton are not ready to let the midfielder go without a fight. The summer could turn out to be very busy for North London club with a number of stars including Christian Eriksen likely to leave the English capital.
The FA has suspended Andre Gomes for violent conduct in the match against Fulham where was found stamping striker Mitrovic. The midfielder is set to miss Everton’s games against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Burnley.
