Arsenal and Atletico Madrid monitoring Nicolas Tagliafico
Nicolas Tagliafico has attracted interest from Spanish clubs Atletico and Real Betis but now, Premier League side Arsenal have entered the race for the highly rated Ajax left-back.
Unai Emery has rotated Sead Kolašinac and Nacho Monreal in the left back position this season. Monreal is 33 years old and has entered the final stage of his playing career. Despite his attacking abilities, Kolašinac has faced difficulties in adapting to the Premier League.
The Ajax left-back scored three times in six Champions League games helping Ajax reach the knockout stage of the competition for the first time in over 10 years. His team mate Frankie De Jong is moving to Barcelona in the summer and the club are trying to fend off interest for their captain De Ligt.
ESPN reports the 26 year old Argentine defender is considering leaving the Dutch giants and would either move to the Premier League or La Liga. Arsenal have also been linked with Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo.
Atletico Madrid want to sign Tagliafico to replace the 33 year old left back Filipe Luis whose contract with the Spanish side expires in the summer. However, the player’s agent Ricardo Schlieper told an Argentine radio station that Tagliafico could be a potential replacement for Real Madrid left back Marcelo who is expected to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian side Juventus.
