Inter Milan sign Man Utd’s £560,000-a-week burden Alexis Sanchez on a 3 year deal
Alexis Sanchez has moved to Italian side Inter Milan permanently after spending a season long loan at the San Siro.
The former Arsenal star was signed by Manchester United in 2018 with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the other way. His £560,000-a-week wages raised a lot of eyebrows despite the forward’s brilliant spell at Arsenal. He never managed to replicate his Arsenal form and scored just 5 goals in his 45 appearances for the Red Devils.
Alexis was sent on loan to Inter Milan to revive his career and despite a dull season before the halt of football due to COVID-19, Alexis managed to force a way into Antonio Conte’s plan with some stellar performances after the resumption of football.
Inter have signed Alexis Sanchez for free with United received no money for the Chilean. The Nerazzurri have offered him a deal that runs until 2023. Alexis has accepted a significant pay-cut with the Red Devils offering him a pay-off believed to be in the region of £5m and £10m.
Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solkjaer said “I can confirm we have agreed [a deal for Sanchez to leave]. Alexis enjoyed his time there, they have liked him so that’s a good move for him. We wish him all the best and he is a top player who we want to see play his best football. For whatever reason we didn’t see the best of him here, he’s a top professional and we wish him all the best.”
