Richarlison powers Everton to a 3-2 win over Wolves
Everton and Wolves played a swashbuckling game of football with both teams asking major questions of the other team’s defence. The crowd at the Goodison Park witnessed three goals inside the first 12 minutes.
Wolves centre-back Connor Coady made a poor back pass to goal-keeper Rui Patricio whose attempted clearance was blocked by Moise Kean and the ball broke kindly for Richarlison to slot it home.
Everton’s lead last for barely three minutes. Adama Traore gave nightmares to Lucas Digne in the first quarter of the game. The Wolves player used his pace to get past Digne and sent a cross to the six yard box. Seamus Coleman failed to clear the ball and Saiss scored to make the scores level.
Everton restored their lead in the 11th minute with Richarlison finding Gylfi Sigurdsson free on the right side. The midfielder’s cross was headed in by Alex Iwobi inside the box. The goal was Iwobi’s first Premier League for his new side.
Jordan Pickford made an impressive save to deny Patrick Cutrone and Wolves an equalizer in the first half. The Italian’s first-time volley was parried by the England number 1 for a corner.
Bennet’s long throw into the box in the 75th minute was flicked by Boly and Raul Jiminez headed the ball at the far-post to beat pickford and make the scores level at 2-2.
With 10 minutes of regular time to go, Everton reclaimed their lead through Richarlison. The Brazlian jumped to beat Boly in the air and headed a Lucas Digne cross into the back of the net.
Willy Boly picked up a second yellow late in stoppage time and got sent off. Marcos Silva’s Everton picked up three important points at home against a strong Wolves side.
