Real Madrid inch closer to sealing Jovic transfer deal
Luka Jovic’s impressive form in front of goal has made him the most wanted striker in Europe, Mbappe aside. Eintracht Frankfurt activated the
€6 million purchase option in Jovic’s loan deal from Benfica after striker scored 25 times for the German side this season.
Eintracht Frankfurt overturned a 4-2 loss in the Europa league against Jovic’s former club Benfica with a 2-0 win in the second leg to reach their first European semi-finals in 39 years. The German club are willing to part with their prolific Serbian striker for a fee around €55 million. 20% of the transfer fee will go to the Primeira Liga leaders Benfica.
The AS reports Real Madrid are in advanced negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt and an agreement is expected to be made in the next few weeks. Jovic will compete with in-form striker Karim Benzema for a place in the starting line-up next season if Real Madrid sign him. The move for Jovic should signal potential suitors that Real Madrid are prepared to offload second striker Diaz and De Tomas who is currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano.
