Pep Guardiola: I am sure Phil Foden will become a Man City Legend
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola watched his side beat Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad stadium. Phil Foden grabbed the limelight of City’s five star performance by scoring a brace. The English youngster grew up a Man City fan and is lauded by the City fans as the ‘Stockport Iniesta’.
When the City manager was questioned about Foden’s performance on whether this was Phil’s best performance for City in the league, Pep responded “I don’t remember if the previous ones were as good or bad as this one. I had the feeling that when Phil plays, he has the sense of [grabbing] goals.”
“When he plays close to the box, he has an incredible sense of scoring goals. In the training sessions, he has the mentality and ability to score. His commitment and fighting [spirit is high] and he never complains. It is a joy to have him. He will be a legend for City. I am pretty sure of this.”
On questioned on Foden’s fabulous pass to David Silva, Pep Guardiola replied “He has everything. I think he is an incredible talent. I have the feeling he is going to get more minutes. He will be more present in the team.”
With the Euros being pushed back by 12 months, Pep Guardiola thinks the tournament being postponed would benefit Foden. The Man City manager also praised the talent of other English youngsters. “I am impressed at the huge number of impressive talents England has. It isn’t easy for everyone to be in the squad but Phil is an incredible player”, said Pep.
